If you're thinking about setting up an assessment, it's reasonable to want to know what you'll get at the end. The responsible response is that documentation depends on what happens in care, the criteria of the professional, the requested purpose and the rules that govern each document.

The process - identification, assessment, registration and explanation of conclusions - can be defined in advance. What cannot be sold in advance is a prescription, a diagnosis or a certificate with a specific conclusion.

Documents that may exist after evaluation

Record or copy of the clinical history

The care should be recorded in the clinical history as telemedicine. That document documented the relevant clinical data, evaluation, decisions and plan as appropriate. The patient has the right to consult and get copies and the document is reserved and should not be circulated indiscriminately.

Summary or monitoring

A summary or a medical statement that reflect an actual interaction can be issued. The scope of these measures should be read literally: attesting assistance does not amount to a therapeutic indication. In remote direction, the regulation recognizes that users can demand copies or copies of the communication.

Recommendations, orders or referral

The professional can recommend measures, request information or studies within his or her skills, send them to another service or demand an face-to-face assessment. That a consultation end without a prescription does not mean that it has been incomplete: a decision to avoid prescribing may also be the appropriate clinical result.

Prescription

It may be issued only if the authorized professional after evaluating a medicine and meets the prescription conditions. In telemedicine, Resolution 2654 limits it to interactive and sincere telemedicine. If these are special monitoring medicines or preparations, they apply additional checks.

Medical certificate

It may be followed if a true clinical fact, treatment or medical act exists and should be attested for an identified purpose. It should contain information required by Decree No. 1171 of 1997 and be clear and precise. The doctor may refuse to include statements that cannot be verified or exceed his or her skills.

Results that cannot be guaranteed

  • A prescription of cannabis, CBD, THC or any other medicines.
  • A diagnosis requested by the patient prior to evaluation.
  • A certificate drawn up to produce a specific legal result.
  • A retroactive certification of facts that the doctor did not witness or cannot verify.
  • A quantity, concentration, track or duration set by a commercial package.
  • The acceptance of the document by police, judges, employers, airlines, migration authorities, customs or foreign entities.

What to review when you get a document

  1. 1Identity: confirms that your name and document are correct.
  2. 2Company: check name, sign and registration of the person issuing them and check with ReTHUS.
  3. 3Date and purpose: they have to correspond to the actual time and issue of the document.
  4. 4Coherence: information should be with care and, where a prescription, with minimum limitation data.
  5. 5Integrity: keeps the complete file, its signatures or validation mechanisms and prevents editing them.
  6. 6Privacy: It only gives information necessary for processing and asks who will care about them.

If you are looking for a document to travel, work or answer to an authority

First identify the entity that will get the support and ask them what the official requirement is. The rules can change depending on their purpose, product, quantity, journey, destination or employment activity. The health care provider attests to clinical events within his or her skills and cannot promise another authority's interpretation.

For international travel, do not assume that a Colombian prescription allows a product to be entered into another country. For police, penal, employment or judicial matters, seek individual legal advice and preserve original aids. Do not give more extensive clinical information than necessary without understanding the basis of the request.

Useful Questions Before To Pay A Consultation

  • Is this remote direction or a telemedicine consultation?
  • Who's his and how can I check his ReTHUS registration?
  • Who's responsible for the medical history and how do I get a copy?
  • Will care be by video phone call in real time if a prescription was eventually considered?
  • What's included in the value: evaluation, monitoring, copies of history or administrative formalities?
  • What results depend exclusively on the clinical criterion and are therefore not guaranteed?

The CAMED coordinated route

CAMED facilitates contact and co-ordination with independent professionals. The result of care belongs to the clinical area of the responsible professional. A transparent communication should separate access to evaluation from any document that can only exist after that assessment.
